New Patients Are Welcome
We welcome new patients to our practice and look forward to working with you to improve the condition and comfort of your cat or dog. Whether your dog is recovering from a surgery or an injury, or needs to lose a few pounds or gain that competitive edge, VRCC would like to help.
Please review the services we offer to learn more about the modalities and techniques Veterinary Rehab & Conditioning Center (VRCC) utilizes. Multimodal rehabilitation programs deliver many benefits and remedy a number of health issues.
We also gladly accept referrals from veterinarians.
Your First Appointment: What to Expect
A thorough examination and assessment is the essential first step in treatment. We will review medical information from your primary care veterinarian. A medical history will also be gathered from the owner, as well as a discussion of goals. The functional assessment will include a complete exam assessing:
- Gait
- Stance
- Body symmetry
- Join range
- Muscle strength and size
- Tendon integrity
- Neurological function
Dr. Hammel will also palpate to uncover the area of pain, tenderness, tightness, muscle atrophy, and swelling.
Based on the findings at the first examination, a customized therapy program will be created and re-evaluated as your pet progresses. We will likely develop a treatment plan consisting of several modalities to provide the best possible outcome. Recommendations for medications, supplements, nutrition, and home exercise may also be advised.
We will communicate directly with your veterinarian and provide a report regarding the care and progress of your pet. Please note since VRCC focuses on pain management, rehabilitation, and fitness, our patients return to their referring veterinarian for primary care.
Prior to arrival, please fill out the veterinary referral form.
